Towards Personalized Therapy

Leuven Diabetes Lab was prominently represented at the IDS Congress 2026, showcasing its research and impact across multiple sessions.

On the first day, Conny Gysemans was awarded the Sanofi T1D Innovation Grant, recognising her contributions to the field. Later in the congress, Amber Wouters presented her work on combination therapies for the reversal of type 1 diabetes in the NOD mouse model. Chantal Mathieu contributed to the scientific programme with multiple presentations, including work by Pierre Lemaitre on spatial multi-omics analysis of the pancreas in children and adults with type 1 diabetes. She also delivered the prestigious Helen Thomas Memorial Lecture, focusing on the evolving landscape of type 1 diabetes.

The strong interest from the scientific community and positive feedback throughout the congress reinforce the relevance of the lab's research.
