Dr. Chantal Mathieu has made significant contributions to the field of diabetes and endocrinology. Her pioneering research focuses on the pathogenesis and prevention of type 1 diabetes, while her clinical work includes the development of new insulins, adjunct therapies, and innovative diagnostic techniques for gestational diabetes. Dr. Mathieu is also at the forefront of several European clinical trial networks and projects, including INNODIA for type 1 diabetes interventions and EDENT1FI, focused on type 1 diabetes screening.
As president of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) and vice-president of the European Diabetes Forum, Dr. Mathieu continues to shape the future of diabetes care on the global stage.
The CWD President’s Medal, a solid silver award, was presented to Dr. Mathieu during a special ceremony at the ATTD Conference on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the Hotel Okura in Amsterdam. The award included a cash donation to the Hippo & Friends Type 1 Diabetes Fund.
